released video of X-BAT 001, the first of two planned full-scale prototypes of its jet-powered, tail-sitting combat drone, which is designed to take off and land vertically. Aviation Week reports the company plans a first flight before the end of the year.
The aircraft was being moved from the company's Frisco, Texas site to its flight-test facility in Newton, Kansas. The War Zone notes design changes since the concept was revealed, including a reshaped wing and a rear exhaust nozzle that sits further back, and says declined to explain some new features on the airframe.
The aircraft has not flown yet. Its range and performance figures are company claims.
