The Military Robotics Society, led by President Son Jae-hong, announced that it will hold the 6th Military Robotics Society Conference at the Booyoung Hotel in Jeju from December 16 to 18. Under the slogan "Physical AI, Opening the Future of Defense Unmanned Systems," the conference will share research achievements and explore defense applications for ground, maritime, air, and space unmanned systems, manned-unmanned teaming command and control systems, and humanoid and wearable robots.
Professor Cho Kyu-jin, head of the Seoul National University Robotics National Research Institute, will deliver the keynote address. Invited lectures will be presented by Kwak Ki-ho, director of the Defense AI Technology Research Institute at the Agency for Defense Development; Han Jae-kwon, professor at Hanyang University and CTO of A-Robot; and Park Sam-jun, program director at the Korea Institute of Defense Technology Advancement. These presentations will address physical AI, battlefield world models, technical development trends in drones and humanoids, and defense R&D planning directions.
The conference will feature a corporate exhibition involving companies including LIG D&A, Young Poong Electronics, and Inspace, as well as a workshop by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology and special sessions by the Chungnam Institute. In addition, an "Isaac Sim & Reinforcement Learning Basics" tutorial will be conducted on December 17 and 18, offering hands-on simulation training on robot control algorithms used to implement physical AI.
Society President Son Jae-hong stated that the advance of physical AI is opening new possibilities for defense unmanned systems and expressed hope that the conference serves as a collaborative venue to develop cutting-edge robot technologies into practical defense capabilities. Submissions for paper abstracts, special sessions, workshops, and tutorials, alongside pre-registration, run until November 14. Conference registration is free for military personnel and civilian defense employees with the exception of certain affiliations and statuses, while banquet participation and tutorial fees are charged separately.
